13,000 AI-generated monkey portraits

The installation addresses the evolutionary path from ape to human and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as the latest tool of the modern "ape-man". While we physically differ little from our animal ancestors, our crucial difference lies in the mind - the ability to create tools that augment us.

AI is the first tool that complements not only physical but also mental abilities. It learns, recognizes and designs independently and is thus at the center of the discussion of the opportunities and risks of modern technologies.

The central installation, a wall of 13,000 AI-generated monkey portraits, symbolizes the transition from evolution to digital creation. Each monkey face is individually recognizable, but from a distance they merge into an overall image - a metaphor for the immense amount of data that AI needs to create something new. The inspiration comes from Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam," with the monkey images going back to an original painted by Super*me, which acts as the "forefather" of this digital evolution.
